Jim Hutzelman oversees the permitting and logistics for special events and special uses of the Port of San Diego’s 22 parks, public open spaces, piers and terminals on San Diego Bay. Jim is responsible for developing partnerships with the producers of major special events and for the Port’s Tidelands Activation Program that provides funding and Port services to numerous events and activities throughout the five Port cities. Jim is a veteran of the United States Navy, having retired at the rank of Commander after 22 years of service. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Wright State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from National University. He serves on the boards of two local non-profit service organizations and as a volunteer for a number of others. He resides in the North Park community of San Diego with his wife, Elizabeth.
